"I’ve been with State Farm for over 11 years. Until recently I really would have recommended them to anyone. I had great customer service, everything you would’ve hoped for. That all changed on the day I had to use the insurance that I had been paying. I was the victim of a hit and run in a parking lot. The damage the truck left my car in made it undrivable. I remember thinking “well thank goodness I have full coverage on my Audi q5” that I loved more then any car I’d ever had . State Farm told me where to get my car towed to and had it all set up for me including my repairs.. After they talked to the collusion repair shop they informed me it would take a few weeks. In those weeks I got text message updates on the progress of my car, which led to the date and time I could come and get my car. At 4:00 on the day I was told to come get it , I walked into the collusion shop and the lady behind the counter said I needed to call my insurance company. I asked to see my car and she said its in the back. When I walked around back I couldn’t believe it. My car was in the same spot the tow truck put it and had not been touched! When I called my agent she said that my car was a total lost. I asked why was I told for weeks it was getting fixed and even had a time and day to pick it up? She had no explanation and said due to the amount of damage it can’t be fixed. Then I had to sign over my car to State Farm or take the car the way it was and pay to have it fixed myself. About 6 months later State Farm finally completed my claim and informed me that my policy would lapse on July 26th if I didn’t keep it going. I still didn’t have a car yet because I had received nothing for my car. On July 22 I finally bought a used car that was 14 years old. When I called my Agent to put my new used car on my policy they said my policy had lapsed and I said no it did not. I have four days left . I emailed them the letter they sent me and said OK will do it for you like they were doing me a favor. Then she quoted me $227 a month for liability only.Eventually I gave in to my agent and agreed on $227. Then a couple of weeks later she informed me that my policy had gone up to $297 a month for liability I asked her to pull up how long I had been with State Farm , she could only go back to 2013 and didn’t have my first car’s records anywhere which was a few years before that. Then I asked “So even if it were only 11 years, that’s 11 years of payments and the first time I have to use State Farm I’m getting penalized? She said “ in a sense yes you are”. Supposedly in the state of Georgia it’s against the law to raise rates when your not at fault. But like a bad neighbor State Farm won’t care!!!"
